Ojas 4.0 – The age of evolution

Ojas 4.0, the 2012 edition of SPJIMR’s annual management-cultural fest in association with the TATA Group was organized from 21st to 23rd January 2012. This year the fest surpassed all previously established records and set a new benchmark for the future. Ojas 4.0 saw participation from the Top-40 B-schools across India and also international universities such as NUS, Singapore and Washington University. With over 5000 registrations and an exhilarated and enthusiastic participation in the 16 events being organized even a month before the fest, Ojas 4.0 promised to be a phenomenal experience, and it certainly did not fail to deliver in the end.

Finding Neo, the flagship leadership event, had 16 participants from the Top-10 B-schools in the nation, handpicked by their respective faculty, battle it out over a course of 2 days on a plethora of challenging yet stimulating tasks.

Cinepact, a new addition to Ojas this year, had the bright students of management develop a promotion plan for the UTV Group’s upcoming film – Barfi. The ideas presented over the event would actually be used by the UTV Group to promote the film that will be launched later this year. An article on Cinepact was also included in the 28th January 2012 edition of The Hindustan Times.

Ojas 4.0 included a perfect blend of Marketing, Finance, Strategy and Entrepreneurship events. Each event was judged by an extremely distinguished and knowledgeable jury panel, and saw only the most creative and resourceful participants emerging victorious.

One of the highlights of the fest was Brain Humour – the stand-up comedy night on 22nd January 2012. The event saw Nitin Gupta, a Chemical engineer from IIT, Bombay and now a professional stand-up comedian, leaving the audience in splits with his trenchant and highly intelligent sense of humour and impeccable joke timing. The standing ovation he received by the end of the show said it all.

Ojas 4.0 also included a host of cultural events such as Grooveyard – the dance competition that had people boogying and grooving to the beats, and The Big Band Theory – the battle of the bands that struck a musical chord with the audience.

The attendees were able to treat themselves to delectable delights at the food-stalls set up across the campus. The On the Spot events kept everyone engaged and enthralled over the course of the three day fest. Participants were seen taking photographs, with broad smiles, alongside life-size cut-outs of OJ – the Ojas 4.0 mascot, the epitome of evolution, set up all around the premises.

The event concluded with Janufest – the Pronite, on the night of 23rd January 2012 with Kolkata-based band, Siixth Veda, spellbinding the attendees and generating that awesome adrenaline rush. The band left the crowd begging for more and cheering for an encore. A perfect and stylish end to Ojas 4.0, and an apposite beckoning to Ojas 5.0. It truly was the age of evolution!
