SPANDAN, the annual alumni meet of SPJIMR was held at the campus on December 18th , 2010 . Around 300 people attended the function including the faculty and the family members of the alumni. The atmosphere was charged with overwhelming enthusiasm from the alumni who could not wait to catch up with their friends.

Before the main event, senior alumni who had passed out before 2000, were invited for a tete-a-tete with Dr. M.L. Shrikant and some senior faculty members. There was an overwhelming response and a good interaction.

The event started with an auspicious lamp lighting followed by the Director, Mr.Sesha Iyer’s Welcome address. One of SPJIMR’s flagship initiatives , Abhyudaya , was formally launched during this occasion and the alumni were enlightened about the objectives of Abhyudaya and their role in this initiative. The launch was a great success as it kindled the interests of the audience present.

The alumni were briefed about the Institute’s recent updates by Prof. Abbasali Gabula. They also had an enriching interaction with the Dean, Dr. M.L . Shrikant, who answered their queries regarding various aspects of the institute.

This was followed by a discussion on “Rural India : The new game changers “. The speakers were Mr. R.V.Rajan ,a rural marketing expert and the ex-president of Rural Marketing Association of India and Mr.Santosh Parulekar , who is an alumnus of SPJIMR and the cofounder and COO of Pipal Tree Ventures Private Limited which is involved in providing vocational training to rural youth aspiring to join the construction industry.

Felicitation of the alumni who passed out in years 1995 & 2005 , commemorating their fifteen and five years of life, post SPJIMR was the next event. This event was celebrated with much pomp and glory as the alumni were very excited to celebrate their professional success with their friends together.

At the end of the event, there was a music performance by the PGP1 batch of SPJIMR. It kindled nostalgic memories and gave them a fleeting experience of the bygone days.

The alumni were very appreciative of the entire arrangements for SPANDAN and elated to meet their Professors. On the whole, the event was a roaring success.
